About Me
I'm Hannah, the owner and sole groomer for Toe Beans & Things. Ever since I picked up my first pair of clippers, I knew this is what I was destined to do. I've always loved all breeds, but I have a soft spot for the old, scared, or misunderstood dogs. With over 10 years of experience, I've earned a reputation for being able to do the "impossible" dogs, through a gentle and patient appoach. I understand that each dog is unique and therefore needs a personalized technique to make them feel safe and comfortable. I truly enjoy getting to know each of my furry clients on a deeper level to understand what will make grooming a pleasant experience for them. The most rewarding part of my career is the bonds I form along the way. Making them look their absolute best, well that's just a bonus.

Grooming FAQ
Frequency
How often should I have my dog groomed?

Every dog is recommended to be professionally groomed at least every 4-6 weeks. Even if you have a low-maintenance breed with short hair, every dog needs grooming basics routinely. Nail trimming helps prevent painful overgrowth that can result in added pressure on joints, or even curled nails that puncture the paw pads. Regular ear cleaning helps prevent infections caused by build up or debris. Routine trips to the groomer also benefit dogs by allowing them to become accustomed to the process.
Intro
What age should I bring my puppy in for their first groom?

The earlier the better! As soon as they are fully vaccinated, it's a great time for an introductory puppy groom. Starting puppies on the right path is crucial for a smooth transition into routine grooming that is going to be a big part of their lives. When puppies have good early experiences it sets them up for future success.
Matting
What is matting? Will my dog need to be shaved?

Matting is a common occurrence in many dogs. Certain breeds with more curly coats, like poodles and doodles, are more prone to matting. It is a painful problem that causes the hair to continuously pull against the skin, which can result in skin irritation and even bruising underneath the matted fur. In these cases, the only safe way to remove the matted hair is to carefully shave it off. Attempting to de-matt a significantly matted coat is dangerous and painful, as it involves constantly tugging and pulling the hair, leading to more irritation, and a bad eperience for your pet. After the matting is safely removed through shaving, new hair is able to grow back, and can be maintained by brushig at home with a combination of a slicker brush and greyhound comb. Tidy Up servies every 4-6 weeks can significantly help the hair grow back matt-free.
De-Shedding
What is de-shedding? How Does it work?

De-shedding is the process of removing the excess undercoat. It starts with a bath with specially formulated product to loosen undercoat, followed by a heavy blowout, and finished with de-shedding tools to brush out any remaining undercoat. Does it stop a dog from shedding entirely? No. Nothing can completely stop a dog from shedding, as it is a natural part of how thier bodies work. Does it make a significant difference? Absolutely! Not only will you see a difference, but routine de-shedding treatments can prevent the build up of undercoat becoming impacted, which is essentially "matted undercoat". Routine de-shed treatments on double coated dogs is a crucial part of keeping them happy and healthy. Your vacuum will thank you too.
